Welcome To Mrs. Enders Classroom Website

Personal History:  I was born in Bellflower, California; however, I have lived in Arizona for most of my life.  I am an only child and my parents live right down the street, which is really nice.  I am happily married with two energetic little boys ages five and six.  My family and I love to go camping, fishing and anything that gives us an excuse to go up north and enjoy the cooler weather.  We also love to watch the Arizona Diamondbacks play baseball.

Education:  I completed a Multi-Lingual Multi-Cultural Concentration Program at Arizona State University where I spent three semesters interning in classrooms around the valley.  I also completed a semester of student teaching and recently graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education.  I received my teaching certificate with an ESL Endorsement.  I love to learn and hope to go back to school in the future for my Master’s Degree.  Right now I am very excited about this new adventure and look forward to a successful year with all of my students.

What’s happening in our class??

Reading:  The class is working on comparing and contrasting characters in a story, reading and writing words with the long o, u, and e vowels and identifying telling sentences and questions.

Math:  Our class is learning how to put 3 two digit numbers in order from least to greatest, adding and subtracting 2 two-digit numbers, and adding 3 one-digit numbers with a sum greater than ten.  Please check your child’s folder for math homework which needs to be completed and returned the next day.

Science:  We are learning about the water cycle including evaporation, condensation, water vapor in the air and humidity.

Music:  The students are learning to discriminate between differences in pitch.  We are also learning about the elements of music.  We will learn the song “This Land Is Your Land.”

History/Geography:  We are so excited to be learning about Japan.  We will focus on traditional crafts, costume, and much more.

Visual Arts:  Our class will be focusing on architecture including noting line, shape, and special features such as columns and domes.  We will look at pictures of the Himeji Castle (also known as “White Heron Castle) which is located in Japan.

**Reminders**  I will send a list of high frequency words home weekly so that students can practice each night.  Students should write complete sentences using these words and turn them in for homework.  Please look in your child’s folder for completed class work as well as homework which needs to be returned by Friday.  All completed work located in the “keep” side of the take home folder should be kept at home.  Papers which are located in the “return” side need to be completed and returned to school.  We often send home important notices and reminders so please check your child’s folder each night.  Thank you for all of your cooperation!

Behavior:  I will be sending home a behavior sheet when students are not following classroom expectations rather than writing a note in their calendar.  Our classroom is so busy learning new things that we run out of time at the end of the day for behavior chart stickers.  If a student is not following the rules, turning in homework or failing quizzes/tests, I will send home a behavior sheet which needs to be signed and returned the next day.

*Donations: Our classroom is in need of wet-ones (wipes), boxes of tissues, colored construction paper, white copy paper and small rewards for our treasure box such as pencils, stickers, toys.  Thank you for all of your help.  It is all GREATLY appreciated.
